Updated on 5/21/2024.
I have been taking digital photos since 1996. Here is a list of all the cameras I have used over the years:
- 1996-2000: Epson Photo PC
- 9/2000-10/2003: SONY CYBERSHOT (model?)
- 12/2003-9/2004: CASIO COMPUTER CO.,LTD EX-Z4
- 8/2004-7/2005: SONY DSC-W1
- 7/2005-12/2008: FUJIFILM FinePix F10
- 3/2009-9/2010: Panasonic DMC-LX3
- 7/2011-4/2017: Panasonic DMC-LX5
- 4/2017-Curent: Canon PowerShot G5X
This does not include a camera used for one-shot 360 photos, or the 360 cameras (RICOH Thetas, Insta360 X2/X3). I’ll add them to the list when I get the dates.
Some still photos were also taken with camcorders on a few trips:
- ??? – SONY HDR-HC1 (camcorder)
- 4/2008-8/2008: SONY HDR-CX7 (camcorder)
- 8/2008-4/2009: SONY HDR-CX12 (camcorder)
- 5/2009-Current: SONY HDR-XR500V (camcorder)
VR/360 Cameras
I also started doing panoramas in the early 200s, eventually getting a one-shot 360 lens attachment. Years later, I went through several dedicated 360 cameras:
- SurroundPhoto (2005) – digital camera attachment that allowed taking one-shot 360 panoramas. I bought a dedicated digital camera to use with this system, though I did not use it very much. I took 360 photos at Disneyland during their 50th Anniversary in 2005, and took it to some Renaissance festivals and such, but there was no way to share the SurroundPhoto images online back then.
- RICOH Theta m15 (2015) – while waiting for the 360cam to ship, this camera came to market. ($296.95)
- Giroptic 360cam (2015-2016) – In 2014, I was a backer on this very-delayed Kickstarter for this 3-lens camera. It was supposed to ship in November 2014, but did not ship until the following year. ($299.99 early bird price)
- Kodak SP360 (2016) – I had a review unit of this 360 action camera.
- Giroptic iO – I had a review unit of this iPhone add-on.
- RICOH Theta S (2016-2020) – a more better Theta. ($346.95)
- Lenovo Daydream VR180 (2018) – I had a review unit of this cool camera.
- Insta360 ONE X2
- Insta360 X3 (2022-current) – a more better X2. ($449.99)
- Insta360 X4 (4/17/2024-current) – ($499.99)
3-D Cameras
- NuView – camcorder attachment for the 3-D video I recorded at Disneyland.
- Aiptek – 3-D handheld photo/video camera.
